Margate based psych-folk artist Jimi Tormey who performs under the moniker Yemrot has released a new song, 'Big Tree', accompanied by a beautifully animated stop-motion video. Taken from his upcoming mini-album The Sunken Garden, set for release on PRAH Recordings on November 4th, the record is a contemplation on grief after losing his father; 'Big Tree' was recorded in his father's studio with string and vocal accompaniments from his siblings and mother, its deeply moving track with a melancholic lullaby atmosphere. “This song came about in about an hour of emotional turbulence not long after my dad died." Tormey explains. “The lyrics were mostly spur of the moment reflections of how I was feeling in relation to loving and missing my dad. The chorus line ‘happiness is a decision’ was a little jab at toxic positivity and some of the advice people tried to give me in the aftermath.” Listen to the track and watch the animated video from artist Jordan Gray, a close friend of Tormey's who endeavoured to reflect "not only on the lyrics but also our own response to Jimi’s journey with grief." -Toby Evans-Jesra
